Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American television journalist, commentator and anchor of NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from the University of Pennsylvania. In 1967 Mitchell became a reporter for KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. Mitchell was a reporter at the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) located in Washington DC. In Washington, she was appointed general reporter by NBC News two year later. Beginning in 1981, she began working for the White House and became chief of the congressional reporter in 1988. In 1992, she was named Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News. Mitchell is a regular on the TV news program Meet the Press as a host and panelist. Mitchell was a part of a panel discussion at the the 1988 Presidential Debates, which featured George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan who was former chairman at Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 for her role in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering in the White House in 1981-1988, both during Ronald Reagan's presidency. Mitchell covered a variety of notable news reports, including arm control, the budget tax as well as the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also attended many summits with the help of the President Reagan along with Mikhail Gorbachev.
